Valerija But, BSc (Hons), TA Dip, PGDip, MBACP
I am fully qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor with extensive experience of working in a number of health/community settings and in private practice.
I offer a respectful, confidential space to explore what is troubling you, help you make sense of your experiences, move on from difficult past events, change unhelpful patterns and live a fulfilling life, whatever that means to you. I bring to my work warmth, sensitivity, humour and a genuine interest in people’s stories.
My approach is integrative, collaborative and active in focusing on the issues identified by the client. Approaches I draw from in my work include Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred Counselling, Existential Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Coming from an integrative approach means that I can draw from a range of therapeutic approaches. This enables me to engage with you in a way that will be most effective and will best suit your individual needs.
I have worked with a wide range of concerns including generalised anxiety disorder, depression, addiction, eating disorder, feeling sad, relationship issues, panic, postnatal depression.
I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and undertake regular supervision as an integral part of my practice.
